World Teachers’ Day provides an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the women and men who take responsibility every day for educating, guiding and preparing future generations. In many countries, appreciation for teachers is not limited to a single day. National awards, education festivals and public programs are also organized to recognize and celebrate outstanding teachers. In Afghanistan, however, such opportunities remain very limited, and most expressions of appreciation take place at school level on Teachers’ Day itself.
